Chillin with Dylan

Inspired by the miraculous birth of Dylan Roberts, Chillin With Dylan is an event that raises money in order to help those families that have also traveled the NICU.

We have been able to donate a cooling bed, bilirubin blankets and we are hoping to continue that trend to add additional supplies for those families in the time in need.

Dylan was born on 3/23/18. What was supposed to be a scheduled C-Section ended up with an emergency that I will never forget. That day took a turn when they couldn’t find Dylans heartbeat. He came silently into this world and the nurses and doctors worked so hard on him. They brought him back to life and gave me hope that miracles exist. Dylan was intubated and flown to CHOP to be placed on a cooling bed where he spent the next 27 days showing us what Superheroes are made of. He has since shown us that living life with each moment is the only way to live.

We found this amazing organization, The Superhero Project, to partner with in hopes to bring a Cooling bed to Holy Redeemer Hospital. We were able to raise a little over $11,000 and Superhero brought us home to match it and a little more. We donated the cooling bed in Dylans honor so that other parents don’t have to be separated from their baby at birth.

“MIRACLES COME IN THE SMALLEST PACKAGES”

My name is Katie Roberts. I am a NICU mom and I work full time for a National Home Builder focusing on Apartment Living.

I have 4 amazing children, all boys, ranging from 5 to 16 years old. They keep me pretty busy and make my heart melt daily.

My youngest, Dylan, is my NICU miracle. His Apgar score of ‘0’ shocked us all. After being resuscitated and intubated and helicoptered to a different hospital he spent 27 days in the NICU. The first 3 were on a cooling bed. Every day thereafter he showed us just how resilient he was. He was released without any medical intervention needed, however, he has permanent hearing loss in his right ear. That doesn’t stop him from running around with his brothers showing them just how tough he is. He truly is our Miracle baby.

Kelly and The Superhero Project has provided an amazing amount of love and support during our journey thus far. This foundation has allowed me and my family to raise awareness for HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy), a type of brain damage that occurs when an infant’s brain doesn’t receive enough oxygen and blood. With the support of this amazing foundation we were able to raise enough money to get our Hospital a Cooling Bed - one they didn’t have and Dylan needed.

I am so proud to be apart of this foundation and help and support other NICU families. This journey has lots of ups and downs but I want to be here to show these families that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

This is the 8th Annual Chillin’ With Dylan event in collaboration with The Superhero Project! This event is to raise money in Dylan’s name to help those families that are traveling the NICU.

This year’s event is sponsored by Kennedy Wilson – a Global real estate investment group. We will be donating the proceeds to Kennedy Wilsons hospital of choice in hopes to spread love across the US.

Join us for our annual Cornhole Tournament (16 years and older) this year will be a Double Elimination Tournament. Each team will be guaranteed at least 2 games.
Spuddy Buddy Food Truck will be joining us and have food for purchase with a donation back to Superhero Project!
BYOB – bartaco KOP will be providing Chips and Salsa for a donation of your choice.

This event is Kid Friendly, the new park is ADA compliant but there is also a baseball field and basketball court down the hill as well.

2025 -Thank you to everyone that joined us!

On August 2, 2025, Katie Roberts, Board member, hosted her 7th Annual Cornhole Tournament to raise funds in her son’s name for NICU families.

This year’s donation will go towards purchasing a cooling bed for Inspira Health – Vineland, located in New Jersey. A “cooling bed” for Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) is a water-filled mattress or blanket that circulates cold water to lower a newborn’s body temperature to a therapeutic range (typically 92-94°F or 33.5-34.5°C) for 72 hours, helping to protect the brain from further injury after oxygen deprivation. This treatment, known as therapeutic hypothermia, is initiated within six hours of birth and aims to reduce inflammation and brain damage by slowing the body’s metabolic rate.

This amazing technology is what saved Dylan’s life 7.5 years ago.

At his years event we hosted 14 Cornhole Teams and over 80 people during the event. We raffled off baskets, 50/50, Food from Bartaco KOP & swag from The Superhero Project, The Deborah F Sager Memorial Fund & Inspira Health. We also had a special guest, Leo, who used the original cooling bed donated to Holy Redeemer hospital from our first event held in 2017. He is a thriving little boy and we are so thankful to continue to help save lives.

This year we raised over $6,000, this money is crucial to continue to help those families in the NICU. We have raised close to $35,000 in the past 7 years with just this event alone.

2024 -Thank you to everyone that joined us!

The 6th Annual Chillin with Dylan did not disappoint. This year we raised a little over $4800 with over 100 people (including kids) in attendance. So far in the past 6 years we have raised approximately $30,000 with our Chillin with Dylan event.

Our amazing supporters continue to believe in the mission to help those babies and families traveling the NICU. This year we had 16 Cornhole teams on a beautiful August day (beating out the storm just in time) with our THREEPEAT winners Mike Duffy and Gary Donnelly taking their 3rd year in a row win!

We are so very thankful for bartaco for being our Cornhole sponsor and also food sponsor this year and delivering amazing tacos & swag to our attendees.

Along with the amount of money raised this year we got to show just what our supporters’ money go to. With not a dry eye at the event we were able to proudly introduce Mr Leo, a little boy that got to use our first ever Cooling bed at Holy Redeemer. This cooling bed did exactly what it was intended to do and it saved his life (just like Dylan’s life was saved 6 years ago). No matter what these superheros are faced with, they are mighty, strong and resilient. We couldn’t have been prouder to meet his parents, Kevin and Colleen, who were so grateful for this amazing machine. Katie, Dan (along with Dylan) and the Superhero Gang & all of the Chillin with Dylan supporters got to see how miracles happen when you all believe in the same mission.

We are continuously grateful every year for those that show up. Here’s to Lucky #7 coming next year 2025!
