Garrett Albert

Garrett was born 11 weeks early on August 22, 2012, weighing just 2lbs.6 ozs. I discovered at a routine 28 week check-up that I had developed severe preeclampsia/HELLP syndrome and was told I would need to deliver my baby within 48 hours. Garrett was born via cesarean in the early hours of August 22. Due to his underdeveloped lungs, he was immediately placed on a ventilator for 5 days until he decided to yank it out on his own! He remained on oxygen for the remainder of his 8 week stay in the NICU. Thankfully his journey in the hospital was pretty "normal". He only needed two blood transfusions and oxygen, but was otherwise perfect. On October 18, 2012, we were able to bring our little guy home! Garrett is now a big, 9 year old boy, who could end up being 6'4!!! We are so blessed and relieved that our preemie has excelled.
