Shane Alexander Smith
Shane came into this world a fighter at 32 weeks weighing 2lbs 7oz after I spent a month in the hospital with complications with my pregnancy. Shane was IUGR and had very little to no amniotic fluid in the womb. He spent 41 days in the NICU and during this time he received a blood transfusion, learned how to breathe and eat on his own, learned how to maintain his body temperature without an incubator, and gained weight properly. He was diagnosed with an under active thyroid in the NICU due to prematurity where he had to take a daily pill crushed up and put on the inside of his mouth. He outgrew his thyroid issues when he was 3 years old.
Shane is 6 years old now and is so smart, creative, artistic, energetic, strong, adventurous, silly, and happy. He continues to amaze us everyday with his achievements. He is a brown belt in kickboxing and will always try new activities. He has grown into a kind and loving boy with a heart of gold and loves being a big brother to his two younger brothers Levi and Reese.
