Daniel & Charlie Shank

The Shank boys are 2 for 2 as NICU Grads. Daniel was born via emergency c section at 40wks with a heart rate of 50, not breathing, limp and blue making his APGAR 1 out of 10. Daniel was resuscitated and due to his rocky start was transported by ambulance to the closest Level III NICU 1.5 hrs away where he was put into therapeutic hypothermia for 3 days. Daniel is a HIE warrior and his recovery was nothing short of a miracle. His total stay in the NICU was exactly a week. Daniel is now an active compassionate 4 yr old that loves everyone! Charlie was born via scheduled c section at 37 wks due to gestational diabetes and increasing insulin demands. Charlie was unable to maintain his blood sugar after birth and was in the NICU for 5 days. After Daniel was born our family worked with The Superhero Project to have Angeleye Cameras installed in Chambersburg Hospitals NICU and our families got to use them while Charlie was there! Charlie is a ray of sunshine and has a smile, a kiss and some killer dance moves to light up your day!
