nolan’s NICU NIGHT OUT
Nolan was born into the world at 32 weeks during an emergency c-section at Holy Redeemer Hospital. His story as a Superhero began a few months prior to being born when mom and dad were told mom had a complete previa and hemorrhaged multiple times with the outcome of being put on hospital bedrest. Nolan showed his strength of fighting while still being in moms belly until he wanted to show his superhero face to the world 8 weeks early.

Our NICU Story
You can’t really explain in words how traumatic it is when doctors and nurses take your baby right to the NICU after they are born. As a parent you have a birth plan set in your mind and just expect it all to go as planned. Being in the NICU, there is no plan, you can’t pick your baby up whenever you want or feed him whenever you want. There are machines beeping constantly, wires everywhere and always have the unknown of when your baby will be able to go home.
Nolan spent 56 long days in the NICU where we rode a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. We watched him fight each day and sometimes we watched him lose, but he never gave up. He showed his superhero strength every single minute of every day. The Superhero Project as well as all of our angel nurses truly made an impact on us during our stay in the NICU. They provided us with comfort in knowing that we are not alone. We will forever be grateful for them. Fast forward now, Nolan is a healthy, energetic, sports fanatic 3 year old who constantly wants to have an out of the park homerun kind of day. We hope that you can join us at the Phillies game, one of Nolan’s favorite places, in honor of all the NICU babies and families.

Jessica Loftus
My name is Jess and I am a proud NICU mom. I am a busy mom of three children and a former elementary school teacher. Our journey with the Superhero Project began when our youngest son Nolan came 8 weeks early at 32 weeks via emergency c-section. He spent 56 days in the NICU struggling to breathe and eat on his own. Since our days in the NICU Nolan has shown nothing but strength and determination. He is a fighter through and through. He shows all of us how precious life is and to never give up.
From day one when Nolan entered the NICU, we were introduced to the Superhero Project. Being in the NICU can be scary, overwhelming and give you a feeling of defeat. It is a roller coaster of emotions and is difficult to support someone if you have never been there. Kelly and The Superhero Project as well as all of the nurses at Holy Redeemer gave us a feeling of comfort that we were not alone. We knew that we would always want to give back to this amazing foundation that supported us in ways we can’t describe.
The Nolan NICU Night out is not just in honor of Nolan but all babies and families, past and future, that step foot in the NICU. We are so excited for the opportunity to work with The Superhero Project and help support families in the NICU.
